Who We Are & Where We've Been

 
 

 

Lisa Cheaney – Bass Guitar/Vocals – Professionally employed at Mountain State Prosthetics as an Orthotic fitter and Office Manager.

 

Lisa began singing gospel music as soon as she could speak, singing with her sister Becky and parents in a gospel group for most of her younger life.  Lisa began playing guitar at the age of 10.  Lisa taught herself with some help from her mother who is also a guitar player.  Lisa picked up the Bass Guitar at the age of 12 and taught herself to play this instrument as well.  She can also play piano, harmonica, banjo, and trumpet and has been known to step behind the drum set on occasion, but she usually leaves that to her sister Becky the professional.  She was mostly influenced by the hard rock bands of the 80’s and 90’s.  She started playing rock and roll at 17 helping form the band Par Avion in 1986.  She has performed with several bands over the last 20 years such as Wizards Way, Alibi, Reckless and Too Tense.  Lisa helped form Third Shift with Becky, Chris and Joel in 2003.   She is the mother of a 6 year old beautiful daughter named Kayla and 6 month old son Lukas as well as wife to the lead guitarist of her band, Chris Cheaney.  She and Chris are teaching Kayla piano and singing as well as guitar and drums.  Kayla is destined to one day be in her own rock-n-roll band! As will Lukas when he can walk and talk!

 

 

Chris Cheaney- Lead Guitar - Professionally employed at Mountain State Prosthetics as a Prosthetic Technician and Orthotic fitter. 

 

Chris was born & raised in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and began playing guitar at 14 spending endless hours in his room learning what he could on his own.  His musical influences are jazz and classical music as well as the heavy metal and hard rock bands of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.  Chris has performed live with several bands including Wizards Way, Alibi, Reckless and Too Tense.  Chris helped form Third Shift with Lisa, Becky and Joel in 2003.  He is the father of a 6 year old daughter named Kayla and 6 month old son Lukas with wife Lisa bass guitarist. 

 

 

Joel Atkins- Rhythm Guitar/Vocals - Professionally employed at Verizon as a Credit Specialist.

Joel was born in Detroit Michigan and moved to St. Albans at age 2 where he is still living today. He played his first paying gig at age 15. At age 22 until about 25 he traveled in a band playing in clubs across the country in cities such as: Springfield, Il, Carbondale, Il, Decatur, Il, Natchez, Mississippi, Greenwood, Mississippi, Clemson, South Carolina, Greenville, South Carolina, Andalusia, Alabama, Pottstown, Pa, Fredericksburg, Va, Abingdon, Va (a haunted former Civil War Mansion converted to a resort) and innumerous locations here in WV. Some former bands include; The Groove Tones, Panama Rose, Too Tense, Slick Stuff, Keystone, Smoke Depot to name a few after some twenty eight years of playing professionally.

 

 

Becky Crowder- Drums/Vocals - Professionally employed at Verizon as a Service Order Administrator.

 

Becky started singing in a gospel group at age 4 with her sister Lisa and her parents.  She sang for several years until age 10 when she sat down one day with a bass drum, snare, hit-hat's and an 8-track tape and taught herself to play the drums.  She played drums in the gospel group until age 14 when she joined her sister in their first rock-n-roll band, Par-Avion.  She performed in this band for several years until age 18 when the band went a different path and she joined her sister once again to form Wizard's Way.  She has performed with several bands in Charleston including; Bone Dance, Scarlet Angel and Alibi.  Becky helped form Third Shift with Lisa, Chris and Joel in 2003.  Her musical influences have been Neil Pert, Tommy Aldridge, Carmine Appice, Scott Rockenfield and Mike Portnoy.  She is the mother of  11 year old twins, Cameron & Katelyn and wife of Ronnie Crowder.  Her husband and children are her biggest fans and are her inspiration!   She is teaching both her children to play the drums and to sing so that one day they may follow in her footsteps and dream big dreams!
